Why does Balkongföreningen exist?
Balkongföreningen is an association of leading balcony contractors in Sweden and Norway, working to develop the industry in a safer and more sustainable direction. Shared guidelines, knowledge exchange and collaboration create the conditions for a consistent, high standard in balcony solutions.
An important part of the association's remit is to make sure that applicable rules, standards and industry practice are followed by every member company. This helps ensure that balconies, railings and balcony glazing are designed, dimensioned and installed safely and durably. Balkongföreningen has also drawn up shared rules for quality assurance and inspection of balconies already in place.
By setting a shared standard for quality, function and safety, you as a client, private individual, property owner or property manager can be confident that your balcony solution meets high requirements.
How we make a difference
By bringing together balcony contractors large and small around a shared commitment, we can create real change in the industry. Together we share knowledge with the aim of safer balcony solutions in both new and existing buildings. Our ambition is for every balcony to be covered by the same high requirements our member companies already work to.
Together we can also drive progress on issues that benefit our member companies and their clients. Among other things, we helped simplify the planning permission process through the new rules introduced in December 2025. Planning permission remains an area we actively work to make easier.
Certification that builds confidence — and business
For developers, housing cooperatives and residents, certification is proof: a balcony delivered by a member company has been designed, manufactured and installed to the highest technical requirements in the industry. For member companies, that same certification is a competitive advantage. In a tender, a documented quality system carries more weight than a promise.
